How To Make Homemade Gluten Free Croutons

    These crunchy and easy-to-make bread cubes are not only a delicious addition to your soups and salads but also flavorful savory snacks. 

If you have leftover bread that becomes stale and the last thing you want to do is throw it away.  I will tell you that there are many ways to use old bread. One of them and I would say that the most delicious is to make your own croutons.

All you have to do is cut the bread into cubes, mix with olive oil, garlic, herbs and parmesan. Then bake the croutons in the oven until they become golden and crispy.

The homemade croutons are quick and simple to make, rich in flavor, crunchy  and believe me far better than the ones from the grocery store.

Chef Jean-Pierre, who inspired me to make this recipe, says the key secret when making croutons in the oven is not to forget about them.

Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 slice of bread (cut into cubes)
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan
  • 1 medium garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2-3 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C and prepare a big baking tray.  
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the garlic, olive oil and herbs. Then add the bread cubes and stir thoroughly so that the olive oil and herbs coated each cube. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on the top and stir the croutons. 
  3. Arrange the croutons evenly on a baking sheet and bake for around 15 minutes or until gold. (The exact time of baking the croutons depends on your oven). Stir the croutons while baking.
